Right up the street

Canoga Park borders Chatsworth to the south, so the trip is short. Head north on De Soto Avenue or Canoga Avenue and you are at 9736 Variel Ave in about 10 minutes. No freeway, no fighting the 101. That makes it easy to swing by on a lunch break or between jobs.

Every transfer is printed in our own shop. For the full rundown of what we do across the region, see our page on DTF transfers in Los Angeles.

A neighborhood built on making things

Canoga Park has a long manufacturing history. Rocketdyne built its main plant here around 1955, and aerospace firms like TRW, Hughes, Rockwell and Boeing followed, along with dozens of small machine shops. The big plants are gone, but the Valley still has plenty of small industrial shops, and they need work shirts.

Shop shirts are where DTF earns its keep:

  • Small crews. Eight guys need shirts with the company logo. No screen printer wants that job. DTF has no minimum.
  • Mixed garments. Tees for the shop floor, polos for the front office, hoodies for winter mornings. One transfer design works across all three.
  • Hard wear. Pressed correctly at 300°F with high pressure, DTF stretches with the shirt and holds up to repeated washing. Our DTF washing guide covers how to make it last.
  • Hi-vis and safety colors. Many safety shirts are polyester. DTF presses onto poly at the same settings, but test first on new blanks.

Main Street and the small brands

Sherman Way through old Canoga Park is the neighborhood's Main Street, once nicknamed Antique Alley. Today it mixes vintage shops, coffee shops and art spaces. That is the kind of strip where small clothing brands sell out of a rack or a weekend market.

For a brand testing designs, the math is simple. Print a gang sheet with all your designs, keep blank shirts in the sizes you sell, and press to order. You never sit on a box of printed shirts in the wrong size. If you go past a hobby, our wholesale program adds volume pricing and priority production.

Schools and families

Canoga Park High School on Topanga Canyon Boulevard sits right where the Los Angeles River officially begins, at the confluence of Bell Creek and Calabasas Creek behind the campus. Between the high school, Canoga Park Middle School, several elementary schools and the youth sports leagues, there is a constant run of team shirts, field trip shirts and class shirts. About 4 in 10 residents were born abroad, and plenty of family events, quinceañeras and church groups order shirts in Spanish or bilingual designs.

Pickup in four steps

  1. Build your order. Use the gang sheet builder, or upload a single design by size.
  2. Give us a call. (818) 527-8264 to confirm your order is ready.
  3. Drive north. 9736 Variel Ave, Chatsworth, Monday to Friday, 10AM to 5PM.
  4. Press. 300°F, high pressure, 10 seconds, peel hot, then a 5 second post-press. Full steps are in our heat press settings guide.

Shop shirt design tips

A work shirt gets looked at from across a parking lot. Keep it readable:

  • Left chest logo around 3.5 to 4 inches wide, back print 10 to 12 inches wide.
  • Phone number and website on the back in heavy type, not thin script.
  • On dark shirts, light colored text pops because DTF prints a white base underneath.
  • Ask your sign shop or designer for a vector logo. A blurry logo pulled off a website will print blurry.
