How to read these tables

Primary is the color a team leads with. Secondary is the main partner color. Accent is the third color you see in trim, numbers, or outlines. Most teams use white too, so it shows up as the accent when a team has no stronger third color.

HEX codes are for screens and design mockups. They tell your design software exactly what to show. Printed color on fabric is a different story, since ink, film and shirt color all change how a shade looks. If you need a print match, pick the closest swatch from our Pantone color chart and design from that.

Codes below are the most widely published values. Where a team publishes its own brand colors, we used those. Published values for a few teams vary slightly between sources.

Recent NFL color changes

Several teams changed uniforms from 2024 to 2026, but most kept their core palette. The ones worth knowing:

  • Tennessee Titans. The 2026 rebrand made Titans Blue the lead color, with navy as a smaller accent.
  • New York Jets. Their green is now called Legacy Green, part of the 2024 return to a classic look.
  • Los Angeles Rams. The 2026 refresh changed the uniforms, but the team says Royal and Sol stay the official colors.
  • Washington Commanders. New uniforms for 2026 kept burgundy and gold as the core colors.

Using team colors on custom shirts

Team colors are a shortcut to a shirt people want to wear on game day. A few common uses:

  • Fantasy football leagues. Make a league shirt with your league name, season year and the champion's name, in the colors of the winner's favorite team.
  • Watch parties. A simple design in your team's two main colors works for the whole group, from the host to the kids.
  • School and youth teams. Plenty of school and youth programs borrow an NFL palette. Use the HEX codes here to keep jerseys, hoodies and spirit wear consistent.
  • Family and group events. Tailgates, reunions and birthday parties all work. See our family reunion shirt ideas for layout tips that carry over.

One plain note: NFL team names, logos and wordmarks are trademarks. Custom merch should use your own art, your own words and the colors. Colors alone say "Sunday" without borrowing anyone's logo.

Designing in team colors for DTF

A palette that looks great on a screen can fall flat on a shirt. These habits keep team colors reading right in print.

  1. Watch contrast on dark shirts. Navy on a black shirt or dark green on charcoal almost disappears. Add a white or light outline, or pick the team's lighter color for the main text.
  2. Let the white underbase work. DTF prints a white ink layer under your colors, so a gold or powder blue stays true on a dark shirt instead of soaking into it. Avoid fake transparency or soft glows that fade to nothing, since that underbase needs clean edges.
  3. Keep lines thick enough. Thin pinstripes and hairline outlines are hard to print and wear poorly. Thicken them before you send the file.
  4. Use halftones for faded looks. If you want a vintage, worn feel, use dots instead of soft transparency. Our guide to halftones for DTF shows how.
  5. Send clean files. Export a transparent PNG at 300 DPI at print size. Full details are on our artwork specs page.

FAQ

What are the most common football team colors?

Blue in some shade is the most common. Navy, royal and powder blue show up across both conferences. Red, gold, silver and black are the next most common.

Can I print an NFL HEX code exactly on a shirt?

Not exactly. HEX values are built for screens. Ink on fabric shifts with the shirt color and material, so match against a Pantone chart for the closest result.

Can I put an NFL logo on a custom shirt?

Team names, logos and wordmarks are trademarks. Use your own artwork and the team's colors instead.

Which NFL teams changed colors recently?

The Tennessee Titans moved to Titans Blue as their lead color in 2026. The Jets renamed their green Legacy Green in 2024. Most other recent changes were uniforms, not palettes.
