How to use the DPI checker

Why the DPI number in your file is usually wrong
Every image file stores a DPI number, and it's almost always meaningless. Phones, screenshots, and web images usually say 72. Some apps say 300 no matter what. That number is just a label. What actually decides print quality is how many pixels you have spread across each inch of the print.
That's why this checker ignores the label and does the math: pixel width divided by print width. A 3,300 pixel wide file is 300 DPI at 11 inches, and only 220 DPI at 15.

How to fix a low DPI image
Changing the DPI number in Photoshop or an online converter doesn't add detail. To actually fix it, find the original file, rebuild logos and text as vector, or upscale photos carefully and check the result at 100%. Full steps are in how to make an image 300 DPI.
